The end is finally here! Final Presentation Night was a blast! My speech went really well and compared to last year, my guests said that I had increased confidence and had better delivery so I was extremely happy! Not only did I barely stutter, but I didn’t feel scared at all to do the presentation which is significant progress! I couldn’t finish 5 chapters of the book, but I’m happy with the chapters I was able to write, and am excited to write more so that I can still publish it in the future. I am extremely thankful to Ms. Russell for all the work she does for us, and to my mentor and sister for helping me. This has been an incredible journey, and I have learned a lot. Through ISM, I wanted to gain more experience, knowledge, and professional speaking skills. I feel that I have gained all of these and even more. I have learned a lot about gene editing, cellular mechanics, new technology, and even creative writing. While it was incredibly hard, it has been incredibly rewarding. Now, I don’t feel awkward or feel like shivering before a speech, but I don’t think much about it and just do it like it is something I naturally do! The program has brought a lot for me, and I can not be more grateful.

Other than Final Presentation Night, I had a lot of fun as I went to a wedding over the weekend. We danced a bit, and put henna on, which was really cool. I also had pizza with my friend and we talked a lot which was super fun. During the weddings I’ve been to in the past, the priest is usually super boring, but this time the priest was actually really funny and made a lot of jokes so it was even better.

This week has also been really fun. My sister came from Colorado and we celebrated her 23th birthday, as I made cake for her and we went to an Indian restaurant. Then we spent time together and went to the bluebell festival in which all the bluebells looked really pretty. We also saw the band “Fleetwood Journey” live, and their songs were really good. The singer had an extremely good voice, and even the other members were really good. Me and my sister also went on a rollercoaster ride which was fun for me because she was scared. We also tried fried oreos which I know are very unheaalthy but they tasted good. For prom, me and my friends first got ready then took pictures. The actual dance floor was kind of empty but we still had fun because we didnt really care. The songs were okay but we still danced and even saw Ms. Russell! Then me and my friends played poker and I was winning so I was happy. Then we went to my friend Sohanna’s house, took pictures, and did karaoke which was really fun! I have been losing focus of both school and boxing, which I really want to get back to again. I have been pretty scared to go to boxing because after I came back from New York I did pretty bad, but I have to remind myself that only after going again will I do good, and obviously the starting will feel weird. I just have to show up and work a bit harder. I need to keep that same mindset in school, especially for ISM as the deadline approaches. Let’s see what happens!

These past few weeks have been really fun. It was spring break so I didn’t get a lot of

work done except for deciding on which college I want to attend. In the first few days of

Spring break, my family friends from Norway and California came over. We celebrated

Holi (an Indian festival of colors), where me and my friends threw colors and water over

each other and danced which was EXTREMELY fun. Me and my family friends went to

Fortworth, Texas and we spent time listening to live country music and having this one

Mexican salad. Then after they left, me and my friends went to Six Flags which was

AMAZING. I love roller coaster rides so it was perfect for me, and we could also see the

the entire view of the theme park from the rides so it was really cool. That was one of the

best experiences I’ve ever had. Then, the next day me and my family planned a trip to

New York which was incredible. I’ve always loved New York City, as it reminds me of

Bangalore (the place where I used to live). We explored the city skyline, met my old

friends, saw Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, New Jersey, and

Pennsylvania. We mainly went to visit Penn State for an admitted students event, Stony

Brook University, and Rutgers. They all were good colleges but after weeks of

contemplating, I finally decided to go with Stony Brook University. They offered me good

aid, but also had a really nice campus that I liked a lot. It was a really good time, and

While I’m scared to be going so far away, I can’t wait to start this new journey!
