#8: “Reflections of the Past and the Future” (Week of 16th October 2023)
This week we started contacting people and continued making our contact list. We also reflected on the Business symposium, which as I told last week, was an overall success. The main thing that I worried about was my grades as the end of term 1 came, and the Acdec Math quiz. The Acdec math quiz went pretty well, although I could have done better considering how easy it was, I did get 2nd in my pretty good team. Regarding my grades, I think I need to do more for AP Bio as by the end of the term I started decreasing the amount of time I studied for it. I also need to practice more for Algebra, although my SAT practice seems to be going well in that area. During the weekend I went to an Indian party for Navaratri which is an Indian festival that goes on for 9 days. At first, I was embarrassed as I had recognized many people there, however, I started to not care and had the most amazing time doing Garba(an Indian Dance). On the Monday of the week, I had to give a mock speech for Acdec. I had written a satirical speech on how “Babies Were Spies For The Government”. I feel like my experience in ISM helped me be more confident, and compared to last year when I stuttered and blanked out on my entire speech, I delivered it surprisingly well. Additionally, the judges also laughed at my jokes! Overall, this week went well, and next week I hope I can say the same, as I will have my choir concert, an interview for Acdec(I can use what I learned in the Business Symposium!), a mock competition for Acdec during the weekend, and I will have to start cold contacting people for interviews and potential mentors.
