Weekly Report #20: “Reconnecting” (Week of January 12th)

This week was an interesting week. I talked to my mentor about my final product and worked on my research product. I reviewed another paper on AT2 cells(cells in the alveoli) and how they are teh origin cells for lung adenocarcinoma. I plan to research specifically on these cells and whether they are observed to have membrane potential changes as they become cancerous. After talking to my mentor, I will change my literature review a bit, but overall he was very impressed with my topic. This week, he’ll be looking at the database of their lab of the RNA code of the alveoli cells, and he will see whether they code for or whether teh ion channels are overexpressed. Based on that, I will add more to my literature review and make it more well rounded. 

Other than my final product, I’ve been working on reading economics for Acdec. While econ was hard at first, after reading and understanding more, I find it extremely fun. It’s close to the level of science now(nothing can beat acdec science), and I love reading it. We will go to the state level next week and I’m extremely scared. I don’t think I’m ready yet, but at this point I just need to do it. I have been working on my speech and I’m really proud. Hopefully I do good and help my team. 

This week the main reason why I felt happy was because of my friends. I talked to my friends in India after a long time and just reconnected with them. It was so nice just talking to them. In school, just sitting with people I know and just doing feels really nice too. Just chilling together feels good. During English class, I sat next to my friend Mariam and it felt good too. We just talked about our friends in the place we used to live, and I knew how she felt(she used to live in the UAE). America is such a different country with many opportunities, and even though conditions might be better than your original country you still miss it cause it's your home.
